Job Summary The Critical Care Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care through a systematic nursing process, including Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation. You will collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement nursing care plans, communicate significant changes in patient conditions, and actively participate in discharge planning. Essential Functions Maintain nursing standards and implement hospital policies. Evaluate nursing care and supervise team members. Delegate tasks appropriately based on patient needs and staff capabilities. Document comprehensive patient assessments and care plans accurately. Conduct admissions assessments and periodic reassessments. Formulate and adjust nursing care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Assess and manage patient pain while educating families on pain management. Revise care plans based on patient responses and overall treatment effectiveness. Ensure that patient care considers age-specific needs and standards. Process physician orders correctly and maintain accurate documentation. Administer medications safely and effectively, adhering to the five rights. Create tailored teaching plans based on patient and family learning needs. Assist physicians during procedures and perform technical medical services as allowed by licensure. Honor the dignity of patients and their families, addressing diverse psychosocial needs. Engage patients and families in the care planning process. Analyze data to understand patient status and age-specific needs. Provide patient care in a safe environment, minimizing healthcare errors. Act quickly to address sudden changes in patient conditions. Respond proactively to patient requests and anticipate needs effectively. Consult with other departments as necessary to address holistic patient needs. Ensure proper handover of patient information and medication counts at shift change. Communicate clearly with management, colleagues, and patients. Assist in identifying and addressing psychosocial needs with relevant service providers. Participate in the training and orientation of new staff members. Operate medical equipment safely and responsibly. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Understanding of medication administration relevant to patient age and conditions. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under stress. Strong interpersonal skills to maintain good relationships with team members and other departments. Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. Exhibit good attendance and punctuality. Willingness to perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, Associate Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program. Licenses/Certifications: Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse. BCLS certification required, ACLS certification preferred. Experience: Minimum six months of experience in an acute care Medical/Surgical setting preferred.
