The Cost Accountant will be responsible for month-end closing, standard cost development, variance analysis and inventory control. The Cost Accountant is responsible for new product additions, standard cost changes, purchase price variance and various other operational financial analyses. This position will be responsible for the accurate completion of assigned processing and procedural activities in a multi-plant environment and may participate on project teams and /or complete analysis on initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Cost Development : Develop or modify production reports, analyze bills of materials routings. Review and approve costing of new product additions in a timely manner. Variance Analysis: Investigate, analyze and report on manufacturing costs and variances including purchase price variance, margins, absorption, product mix, manufacturing variances and other costing metrics. Business Partnering : Support cross-functional team in a multiple plant environment as necessary, provide insight into operational performance and recommend improvements Financial Reporting : Complete account reconciliations, month-end closing and journal entries timely
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or related field Equivalent job experience or related college courses 1+ years of finance and/or accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment General understanding of cost accounting, general ledger postings, procurement processes, A/P, fixed assets, inventory through disbursement, etc. General computer skills, Word, Excel Self-Starter who works independently as well as in a team setting Ability to problem solve, good analytical skills, good communication skills Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Microsoft Excel (Power BI a plus)
Preferred: CPA
Working Condistions and/or Physical Requirements: Working conditions associated with normal office environment. Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, copier, printer, etc.). Ability to effectively communicate in both small and large groups and settings. Ability to traverse between multiple locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania as needed. Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
