Overview
Since 1972, Covenant House has served and advocated for youth and young families experiencing homelessness, human trafficking, and exploitation. Our overarching goal is to end homelessness among youth and young families by helping them achieve housing stability, heal from trauma, tap into their innate resilience, and hone their interests and skills to forge new pathways to independence. This work is carried out across Covenant House sites in 34 cities in the US, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.
About the Role
Covenant House International's (CHI) Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fundraising team is seeking an engaging, dynamic, self-starting individual to support event participants who are raising funds through personal fundraisers, endurance events, and Sleep Out. Sleep Out is CHI's primary P2P fundraising program that invites participants to give up their bed for one night in solidarity with youth facing homelessness.
The Coordinator, Peer-to-Peer will serve as the primary customer service, sales and fundraising representative for event participants. You will show up as a dynamic and organized team player making an impact by helping to streamline our P2P systems, processes, and communications. You communicate effectively with event participants to increase their fundraising results through personal phone calls and e-communication. You will collaborate closely with the P2P team and CHI's Corporate Partnerships team, as well as with Covenant House's federation of sites across the U.S. and Canada.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide direct customer support to event participants for fundraising and technology
Respond to all customer service calls and inquiries with a focus on improving the fundraising results for Sleep Out
Leverage peer-to-peer fundraising best practices and experiences, as well as incorporate the latest P2P trends to maximize program performance
Execute a fundraising coaching program with event participants, which includes phone-based participant outreach and personalized communications such as, texting platform, personal emails and Sleep Out and Matching Gift inboxes.
Proactively collaborate with internal departments to align efforts, coordinate strategies, and share best practices to enhance participant experience and grow revenue
Help ensure event revenue goal achievement through effective leadership, engagement, empowerment and mobilization of prospects
Develop and maintain effective marketing tools, materials, and resources
Maintain existing action plans in the team's project management system and make timely notes available to the larger team
Attend fundraising activities and events as necessary
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with a wide variety of people in professional and social settings; adept at creating partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet objectives and goals
Ability to rebound from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations
Experience in managing projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to senior managers
Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications; you bring credibility when presenting materials to external audiences and can determine how best to reach different audiences and adapting your approach based on that understanding
Proven ability to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm; You are results / outcomes driven
Strong organization and prioritization skills; You monitor and adjust your activities to respond to changing circumstances and priorities to meet goals, proactively addressing issues as they arise and mitigating risks
Required Qualifications 2-3 years' experience working in customer service, fundraising, project management, sales, corporate social responsibility, cause marketing, or other relevant fields
Must be tech savvy with proficiency in Google-Suite, Microsoft Office, and social media/Sharing Channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube)
Ability to organize tasks and deadlines using the team's project management tool (Asana)
Must be able to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment
A passion for the Covenant House mission
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications Previous experience in peer-to-peer fundraising
Previous experience using DonorDrive or other non-profit CRM
Bilingual Spanish
Travel Requirements Ability to travel once per year to New York City in January for our two annual in-person traditions: our Staff Day of Renewal and our Holiday Celebration
Occasional travel as well as some evening and weekend work is required (including attending overnight Sleep Out events)
Outside of the occasional travel, Staff Day of Renewal and Holiday Celebration, this position is 100% remote
