Salary: $60,000-$63,000 Annually


Reports To: Clinical Director


Position Summary
Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) will be responsible for providing comprehensive
substance abuse treatment services, including leading group therapy sessions, managing
individual cases, and coordinating care for clients. This position expectations shall possess a
deep understanding of substance use disorders, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a
commitment to facilitating positive outcomes for individuals seeking recovery.


Key Responsibilities


Substance Abuse Counseling and Group Facilitation:


Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to address substance use disorders and
co-occurring mental health issues.


Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each clients needs.


Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic group sessions, ensuring a supportive and
non-judgmental environment.


Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.


Case Management:


Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine clients' needs and develop
personalized treatment goals.


Monitor client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure the achievement
of recovery goals.


Collaborate with clients to establish and maintain a recovery plan that includes long-term
sobriety goals and necessary support services.


Maintain detailed and accurate case records, including progress notes and treatment
updates.


Care Coordination:


Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals, social services, and community
resources to ensure a holistic approach to treatment.


Advocate for clients' needs and connect them with appropriate resources such as housing,
employment, and healthcare services.


Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings to review client
progress and adjust treatment strategies as needed.


Compliance and Documentation:


Ensure all activities and documentation comply with state and federal regulations, as well
as organizational policies.


Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of practice.


Prepare and submit required documentation and reports in a timely manner


Professional Development:


Stay current with best practices, trends, and advancements in substance abuse treatment
and counseling.


Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance
skills and knowledge.


Qualifications


Licensure: Must hold a valid Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) license in
the state of Virginia.


Education: Bachelors degree in counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field;
Masters degree preferred.


Experience: Minimum of [X] years of experience in substance abuse counseling or a
related field.


Skills:


Strong understanding of substance use disorders and evidence-based treatment
approaches.


Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.


Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Certifications: Certification in CPR and First Aid preferred.


Working Conditions


Position may require occasional evening or weekend hours to accommodate client
schedules.


Work environment includes office-based settings, group therapy rooms, and possible

recovery.
