Position Purpose: As a food and food service delivery driver, you will fulfill a crucial role in our nation's food supply chain. You will ensure that customers receive their products on time and in excellent condition, representing our company and cultivating lasting relationships. As a driver, you will operate a tractor trailer or straight truck, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Your main responsibility will be to safely and timely deliver and unload food products to various customers. Primary Responsibilities: Engage with customers, vendors, and colleagues professionally to provide accurate and timely information. Collaborate as a team member within your department and perform any assigned tasks to best serve the company. Conduct all required safety checks, including pre/post-trip inspections, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. Report any safety concerns or necessary repairs. Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies. Report safety hazards and verify that the trailer is properly loaded and secured. Perform count checks of items, matching them with customer invoices before loading. Accurately complete all required delivery paperwork. Move trucks to loading docks and attach preloaded trailers as needed. Follow predetermined routes to deliver customer orders on schedule. Unload products and transport them to designated areas within the customer’s facility. Inspect items for damage and communicate with supervisors about any issues according to company policy. Confirm product delivery with customers and obtain necessary signatures. Collect payments when required, secure trailer doors, and manage customer returns appropriately. Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are always secured. Handle damaged goods and returns, ensuring proper documentation and disposal. Maintain accurate records of hours of service and comply with Federal DOT and company regulations. Maintain cleanliness and organization in trucks, loading dock areas, and within trailers. At the end of your shift, secure all equipment and finalize necessary paperwork. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum 12 months of commercial driving experience. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Valid CDL A license. Must meet all state licensing and certification requirements. Must be at least 21 years old. Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years. Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check. Successfully complete a road test. Hold a valid DOT Health Card or be able to secure a new one. Ability to hand-lift and utilize equipment to handle product cases/freight of various sizes and weights, generally between 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds.
