Role Summary:
As a vital part of the country's food supply chain, our delivery drivers not only ensure timely and safe delivery of food products but also build lasting relationships with our customers. This role involves driving a tractor trailer or straight truck for local, over-the-road (OTR), and shuttle routes to deliver food and food-related products in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Key Responsibilities: Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
Collaborate as a team member within the department to fulfill duties that best serve the company.
Conduct necessary safety checks, including pre/post trip inspections of vehicles per DOT regulations.
Promptly report safety issues and repairs.
Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies to ensure safety.
Verify loaded and secured freight before departure.
Perform item count checks and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
Complete all necessary paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly.
Drive to deliver customer orders according to a predetermined delivery schedule.
Unload and transport products to designated storage areas at customer locations.
Check for damaged goods and report as per company policy.
Collect payments when required and ensure the security of all loads.
Perform daily records of hours of service in compliance with Federal DOT and company requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized tractor and loading dock area.
Complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift and secure equipment properly.
Qualifications: High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent 1 year of commercial driving experience Valid CDL-A license Must be at least 21 years old Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check Pass a road test Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one Able to hand-lift and use relevant equipment for moving freight About Us: Performance Foodservice, PFG's broadline distributor, partners with local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, and schools.
