Position Summary
Job Title: Part-Time Cashier
Location: Fresno Main Campus - McDonald Hall
Reports to: Director of Accounting
Position Summary:
The Part-Time Cashier is a key member of the Accounting team and serves as the first point of contact at the front counter of McDonald Hall. This position is responsible for processing payments, handling financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent customer service in support of the University's day-to-day operations.
Essential Functions
Receive and accurately post all payments made at the Cashier's Window, including tuition, fees, and miscellaneous transactions
Disburse credit refund checks in a timely manner
Maintain a balanced till and reconcile daily cash drawer at the end of each shift
Process petty cash transactions and maintain related documentation
File accounts payable and cash receipts reports electronically via Etrieve
Provide professional and courteous customer service, both in person and over the phone
Update Employment Development Department with new vendor information as needed
Maintain and update vendor files, including: W-9 forms
Direct deposit details
Certificates of Liability and Workers' Compensation
Ensure accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks with attention to detail
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments
Communicate clearly and professionally, demonstrating active listening and mutual respect

Qualifications
Required: Experience working in a customer service-oriented office environment
Proficient data entry skills, including ten-key calculator use
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individuals in a warm, professional manner
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Ability to manage interruptions and maintain accuracy during busy periods
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
Ability to maintain confidentiality and respond to changes with flexibility
Preferred: Experience in a university or educational setting
Educational background or work experience in business administration, accounting, or finance
University Information
Environmental Conditions: Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
Physical Demands: This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.

The starting hourly pay for this role is $17.00 per hour and reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
