The Home Visitor/Parent Educator supports families with children, prenatal to age 5 using the evidence-based Parents as Teachers program. The Home Visitor/Parent Educator empowers parents with skills, tools, and the confidence to nurture the healthy growth of their child. They develop visit plans using the Parents as Teachers curriculum, conduct in-home and virtual visits with families, conduct screenings and assessments, and connect families to resources.
Experience Requirements (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities) required include:
1. Minimum level of one year of related work experience working with community resources, local education agencies and conducting home visits / working with families and children.
2. Basic skill level in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. word processing, email applications, and internet usage. Intermediate skill level preferred.
3. Must be an Ohio licensed social worker, an Ohio licensed teacher, or an Ohio registered nurse and maintain such license throughout the term of employment.
4. Ability to adhere to standards of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
5. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
6. High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
7. Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
8. Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills. Must be self-motivated, proactive and solution focused.
9. Ability to establish and maintain a comprehensive record-keeping system and office procedures.
10. Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
11. Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with public, staff and patrons.
12. Ability to work in culturally diverse households and communities, and display cultural sensitivity and competence with others.
13. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with general direction.
14. Experience with OCHIDS, Visit Tracker preferred.
Education/License/Other Requirements include:
Bachelor's degree in social work, early childhood education, health, psychology or related field.
Must be an Ohio licensed social worker, an Ohio licensed teacher, or an Ohio registered nurse and maintain such license throughout the term of employment as a Parent Educator- Licensed.
Valid Ohio Drivers License and appropriate insurance coverage.
Must meet the requirements to become a credentialed Parent Educator as required by the Parents as Teachers National Center.
Credentialed Parent Educator preferred.
