Position Overview:
The Warranty & Quality Validation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of DMA products through rigorous inspection and validation processes. This hands-on position is responsible for executing standardized inspection procedures on new and existing parts, supporting engineering teams by collecting and documenting inspection data, and contributing to warranty investigations. Operating under the direction of the Warranty & Product Validation Engineer, the technician works closely with product quality and warehouse teams to ensure inspection activities align with DMA's quality standards and continuous improvement goals.
Note: This is an on-site position.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspection Execution & Data Collection
Perform inspections on development and production parts using DMA's standardized inspection processes.
Document inspection results using worksheets or within the ERP system for evaluation by the engineering team.
2. Warehouse Inspections
Conduct initial arrival and random sample inspections at DMA warehouse locations, as assigned by the Product Quality Engineer.
Coordinate inspection activities with warehouse staff to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
3. Prototype Evaluation
Inspect new part prototypes from manufacturing facilities, documenting findings for early-stage product evaluations.
Assist with identifying potential part quality issues before full-scale production.
4. Support for Warranty & Training Activities
Assist the Warranty & Product Validation Engineer in training repair part crews on proper inspection and handling procedures.
Support warranty inspection efforts by providing preliminary defect assessments and contributing to root cause analysis.
5. Inspection Scheduling & Coordination
Follow a structured inspection schedule provided through the ERP system and direct instructions from the Product Quality Engineer.
Ensure timely execution of assigned inspection tasks to support overall quality assurance timelines.
6. Technical Disassembly & Reassembly
Safely disassemble and reassemble parts as needed to facilitate detailed inspection processes.
Ensure proper handling of all parts to maintain quality and safety standards.
7. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare initial inspection reports and contribute findings to the engineering team for further evaluation.
Maintain accurate and organized records of inspections, including photos and written observations.
8. Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Reporting Structure:
Reports directly to the Technical Product Support & Quality Control Manager.
This position has no direct reports.
Requirements: Key Requirements:
Experience : Minimum of 2 years in part inspection, quality control, or manufacturing environments. Experience in automotive systems, mechanical inspections, or failure analysis is preferred . Prior experience working in warehouse or laboratory settings and performing hands-on inspections is a plus .
Education : High school diploma or equivalent is required . Additional education such as technical school training, military technical experience, or certifications in automotive repair or mechanical systems is strongly preferred .
Skills : Must demonstrate a solid understanding of standard inspection techniques, part disassembly/reassembly, and proper use of measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges). Must possess strong observational and problem-solving skills to assess part quality and determine potential causes of failure. Must be capable of accurately documenting inspection results using ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). Must be self-directed and able to manage workload independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering and warehouse operations.
Knowledge : Solid understanding of part validation, mechanical inspection processes, and general quality assurance principles. Familiarity with reading technical drawings and interpreting part specifications is required . Knowledge of basic failure analysis techniques and inspection reporting standards is essential . Understanding of warehouse safety procedures and inspection protocols is preferred .
Technology : Proficient with standard computer functions including email and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with ERP systems for inspection scheduling and documentation is required . Familiarity with digital measurement tools, inspection equipment, and mobile devices used for data entry and reporting is preferred .
Physical Requirements:
This role is primarily lab- and warehouse-based, with regular physical tasks related to product inspections and occasional travel to off-site warehouse locations.
Mobility : Ability to move freely within laboratory, warehouse, and office environments. May require walking between inspection stations, storage areas, and workbenches.
Standing and Walking : Frequently required during part inspections and warehouse visits, including standing for extended periods and walking across warehouse floors.
Lifting and Carrying : Regularly required to lift or move parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds from the floor to work surfaces during inspections.
Posture and Motion : Regular use of hands and arms for handling tools, disassembling/reassembling parts, and recording data. May involve bending, kneeling, or reaching during part handling and inspection tasks.
Vision and Hearing : Must have adequate vision to perform detailed visual inspections, read technical drawings, and use precision measurement tools. Hearing sufficient to follow safety instructions and communicate effectively in warehouse and lab settings.
Work Environment : Primarily a laboratory and warehouse environment with exposure to mechanical components, warehouse noise, and moving equipment. Occasional work in office settings for reporting and documentation tasks.
Travel Requirements : No travel required.
