Position Summary Teach Applied Jazz Saxophone to undergraduate and graduate students
Perform in the faculty jazz ensemble (Michigan State University Professors of Jazz)
Teach Jazz Pedagogy
Teach Jazz Improvisation
Mentor and guide students in professional activities
Recruit and retain Jazz Saxophone students
Engage in meaningful service to the College of Music, as assigned
Collaborate with faculty in the development of the program, curriculum content and pedagogy to ensure the quality of the student experience and student recruitment

Required Degree Other -Master's degree in Music or equivalent professional experience
Minimum Requirements Experience as a private teacher
Expert in Jazz Saxophone techniques
Desired Qualifications Excellent performance ability
Significant career as a professional Jazz Saxophonist
Significant administrative and leadership skills; Advanced Skills Preferred
Pedagogue in Blues-based improvisation and tradition (Jazz Bebop and Harmonic concepts)
Teach Jazz Pedagogy
Knowledge of Jazz Saxophone history
Knowledge of Blues and Swing traditions
